One more task list on a weekend

I was working on this irritating opportunity and out of nowhere, the client shared requirements and the assumptions made by the delivery team were opposite. During one of the mail threads, the leadership team requested similar information from other accounts and my manager took it seriously and was collecting some irrelevant information. At the end of the day, the leadership team completely thrashed my manager's suggestions and wanted simple insights into existing accounts. I was completely silent all through the discussions and towards the end, my manager committed that the updated version will be shared by tomorrow and the next day was a weekend. I was completely taken aback by the commitment from my manager and as soon as the call got over, I logged off immediately from my office laptop with the hope that my manager will not bother me over the weekend. Unfortunately, a few mins after the call, my manager called me in the mobile and was blabbering something irrelevant to the work and in the end, he was requesting me to support over the weekend to complete the work. Drafting out plan for the on-site team

After knowing that I was pulled back into old service requests post my vacation, now I had to make some working plans to sort out issues with the on-site team and milestones for each day to get sign off from each owner. On the first day post my vacation, I was extending my entire day to figure out a plan to work those irritating people and in meantime, I was requesting the offshore delivery lead to list down all queries that require attention from the on-site team and also define deadlines to get those inputs or we will go ahead with our assumptions. Finally, at end of my day, I had everything on my table and was drafting mail to the on-site team and even before I could drop this mail to them, I get another mail from the on-site team to set up daily calls in the morning for the status update discussion. I got completely furiousness about this attitude because of two main reasons, one because of the fact that they didn’t even get my mail about my report and another one was that I completely hated to take early morning calls. Discussion about the slide share by me and offshore lead

Since the on-site team was fine with the slide that I have shared to them, the offshore delivery lead was again asking about the slide update in the next call. I was completely taken aback and was conveying to the offshore delivery lead that onsite team was fine with that slide and they would customize it based upon their customer needs. Offshore lead took this comment personally and was again pointing out that my slide was not coming out in better way and he has better slide representation in his mind. Now everyone in the call was silent and to my surprise the on-site POC was again quoting that slide from me was good enough to address customer requirements. Delivery lead was still not convinced and was asking multiple questions on the slide that I have shared and now the on-site delivery lead was requesting the offshore delivery lead itself to share the slide that he has in mind. One more team member leaving my team

For past few days most of my team members were having off days and we didn’t have much work to do. But everyone in my team wanted to show them busy and make it look like as if they are onto something important so that they don’t get any additional work from my manager. So as usual I went to my workplace opened my office laptop, connected all cables and started to play videos in YouTube with my headphones on. In addition, I also had opened couple of documents to pretend that I was working onto something important so that my manager doesn’t assign any new work to me. As usual my manager stood up for a break and all of a sudden, I noticed someone poking me and when I turned it was my colleague. She started communication directly that “finally she was able to leave the team”, for a moment I didn’t get what she was referring to and at the end she told that she is leaving the team next Monday. Delayed and composed start to the new opportunity

I resumed my work post my return from my hometown and was preparing myself to work with that most irritating online delivery counterpart. Once I logged to office, I was quickly checking up for any new mails or work assigned to me. To my surprise, I didn’t get any new work and there was a call scheduled by accounts team each day later in the first half to discuss about the action items and pending items to addressed. We all joined the call and I was hoping that client would have responded back with the clarification and was hoping to get busy again with work load. To the entire offshore team’s surprise, the client has not responded to the questionnaire and there might be delay in the schedule and we should focus on addressing standard solution components. An Incompetence

Well people repeated humiliation is the key factor behind me writing on this topic, I openly admit!!! I was forced to join and take up science when I was at high school when there was an option to choose between arts and science, I was very much interested in taking up arts which included the study of literature and things like that. My parents were invariably prejudiced and were insisting me to take science as the main stream, till then I was good at studies and was well liked by my professors but after choosing science as my stream the whole scenario changed!!! I couldn't perform well, the whole point was I was not interested, the world started to consider me as an incompetent individual, which seriously put me almost to a demented state. Anyway now I am well settled as it has been ages since that incident occurred!!! I always have the feel that it could have been better if I had taken the other option in my life, as that field also has good prospects. So I personally feel that instead of calling an individual incompetent it would always be better if you categorize him as per his interest. If a person is very much interested in some art if not immediately but would soon master it!!! Some people have the gift of adjusting and excelling in every field they get into irrespective of their liking, those are somewhat rare and not a better option as per me. So my sincere request to parents and educational institutes is only these, always try motivating students and induce some kind of interest in them instead of eschewing the poor performer and calling him incompetent!!!
